About Us

Our story, our passion, our tradition

Our Story

SpiceLounge was born in 2015 from a simple dream: to bring the authentic, home-cooked flavors of Nigerian cuisine to the heart of Lagos in a warm, modern setting. What started as a small 10-table eatery in Ikoyi has grown into one of Lagos's most beloved dining destinations.

Our founder, Chef Adeola Bakare, grew up in her grandmother's kitchen in Ibadan, where she learned the secrets of traditional Nigerian cooking. She saw that while Nigerian food was deeply loved at home, there were few places where it was presented with the elegance and ambiance it truly deserved.

Today, SpiceLounge combines time-honored recipes with contemporary presentation, creating an experience that honors Nigeria's rich culinary heritage while embracing modern dining trends.

Chef Adeola Bakare

Founder & Executive Chef

Chef Adeola's journey began in her grandmother's kitchen in Ibadan, where she spent countless hours learning the art of Nigerian cooking. She later trained at the prestigious Lagos Culinary Institute and worked in top restaurants across Lagos, Dubai, and London.

In 2015, she returned to Nigeria with a vision: to create a dining experience that celebrates Nigerian cuisine with the elegance it deserves. SpiceLounge was the result of that dream.

Under her leadership, SpiceLounge has won multiple awards including the Nigerian Restaurant Awards "Best Traditional Cuisine" for three consecutive years (2023-2025).
